Court Approves $85 Million Settlement Involving Wal-Mart Wage Disputes
June 01, 2009
U.S. District Judge Philip M. Pro has given preliminary approval to an $85 million wage and hour class action settlement resolving 30 cases against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in coordinated proceedings entitled In Re: Wal-Mart Wage and Hour Employment Practices Litigation, MDL 1735, U.S. District Court, District of Nevada (Las Vegas). The approval covers just part of a larger $640 million settlement reached last December.

I do not wish to use my name, but email is [email protected]. I will say that I have personally done COUNTLESS "Open Door" processes to every level of management in my store, Regional, and now Divisional, with little or no resolution to issues I raised or issues regarding back pay, working off the clock, and missed/denied breaks. I also submitted a long claim form back 11/09/2009. Even though in Texas the last day of 'time' in suit was 02/27/2009, these practices that Wal-Mart DENIES it 'does' continue even TODAY! What can we do, who do we call? I have called the MDL Claim Administrator and they don't seem to KNOW ANYTHING!! Surely Wal-Mart CAN'T continue to categorically 'DENY' what was in the Consolidated Complaint, when we as hourly associates live, eat, breath and sleep it EACH and EVERY DAY! Can we go to our state Workforce or Labor Boards regarding issues, or to USDOL? Would someone please contact me via e-mail and/or give ph# info if I can call you?? THANKS!!

It would be nice if the walmartmdl.com page explained in clear language what the delay is all about and why the settlement is being appealed. I was hoping that this would be resolved soon.
